Introduced in 1938, the Argus C2 is the direct predecessor to the iconic C3, affectionately nicknamed "The Brick" due to its boxy, heavy design. It played a major historical role in popularizing 35mm film photography across America.
The defining upgrade from the original C model to the C2 was the integration of an externally geared, coupled rangefinder mechanism connected directly to the lens focus ring. It features an Argus Cintar 50mm f/3.5 triple-element lens and a front-mounted rotary leaf shutter offering speeds from 1/5s to 1/300s plus Bulb. Built with a combination of bakelite and cast metal, it remains an iconic piece of mid-century industrial design.
