Canon A-1 – 35mm SLR Camerabody

The Canon A-1 is one of the most advanced manual-focus SLR cameras of its era, introduced in 1978 as Canon’s professional model in the FD-mount lineup.
It was among the first cameras to feature full Program AE mode, along with shutter- and aperture-priority automation, a milestone in camera engineering.

This particular unit has been tested with a V28PX battery, and both the shutter and light meter are fully functional.
All shutter speeds operate correctly, and exposure readings are accurate.
It does exhibit the well-known “laggy shutter” characteristic common to many Canon A-1 bodies, a slight delay when the shutter is released but this does not affect performance or reliability in any way.

Please note: the battery door is missing, though the battery stays securely in place during use.

The Canon A-1 remains compatible with all Canon FD and New FD lenses, making it a great choice for both collectors and analog shooters who appreciate reliable, classic design and smooth handling.
