The Linhof Cinematic Panhead I is a professional tripod head by Linhof, designed for smooth operation of film and video cameras. It features independently lockable pan and tilt movements, allowing horizontal and vertical camera movements to be controlled separately.
A distinctive feature is the design in which the rotation axis shifts when the camera is tilted. This compensates for the changing centre of gravity and prevents the camera from suddenly tipping forward or backward during tilting. The head features an adjustable pan handle and a built-in spirit level. It uses a 1/4-inch camera screw, while the base has a 3/8-inch tripod connection.
The Panhead I provides approximately 35° of forward and 35° of backward tilt and supports cameras and equipment weighing up to approximately 4 kg. The base has a diameter of 77 mm, while the head weighs approximately 700 grams.
The Linhof Cinematic Panhead I is therefore a sturdy and specialised tripod head for film and video cameras, but can also be useful for photographic applications requiring controlled panning and tilting movements.
