This Yashica 44 LM, serial number 3963576, is a distinctive Japanese twin-lens reflex camera designed for 127 roll film, producing elegant 4×4 cm square negatives. Introduced in 1959, it served as an affordable alternative to the Baby Rolleiflex while maintaining Yashica's reputation for solid engineering.

The "LM" designation refers to its integrated selenium light meter, which, although uncoupled, provided photographers with a convenient exposure reference during an era when built-in metering was still a luxury feature.

Equipped with a Yashinon 60mm f/3.5 lens and a Copal SV shutter offering speeds from one second to 1/500 second plus Bulb, the camera delivers the classic fully mechanical TLR shooting experience.

This particular example has one known issue: a missing screw on the top assembly makes opening the viewing hood difficult, although the camera functions correctly once opened. As such, the defect is relatively minor but should be reflected in the overall valuation.

Today, the Yashica 44 LM remains highly appreciated by collectors and film photographers looking for a compact and unusual TLR format, especially as 127-film cameras become increasingly scarce.
